Dragon's Blood
Give us a brief description of your guild and why you chose the name you did.
We are a close knit group of friends that enjoy role-playing. We are not interested in being the largest guild or the strongest guild. What we are interested in is finding others that fell as we do and enjoy just having fun with friends. We chose the name Dragon’s Blood after reading a story written by one of our members for our website. The end of the story has a Dragon flying over the three founding members of the guild and shedding one drop of blood which hits the ground between us splattering blood on us. They took the sign of the Dragons Blood and the strength the dragon the blood carries with it to be a blessing. We liked the story so much that Dragon’s Blood became our name.
What is the main focus of your guild?
To have fun and enjoy each others company. We are as likely to spend hrs goofing around and chatting as we are hunting and crafting.
How long has your Guild been around?
Under its current name it has been around 2 years but our guild goes back 7 years with a few of its members having friendships that go back 10 or more years.
How was your guild founded and who are some of the founding members?
We founded our guild after growing tired of being in guilds that seemed to be more about the ego of its GM and not about its members having a good time. Originally the guild was founded by my wife Rhaella and Me Eldrik 7 years ago Samm came on board 2 years ago.
What kind of structure does your guild have in terms of leadership and roles they play?
We have 3 GM’s 3 Senior Officers and 3 junior Officers. Each Gm takes charge of a different aspect of the guild such as an alliance representative an internal gm for guild affairs and a gm that cares for the guilds coffers.
What resources do you provide to enhance interaction between members of your guild?
We have a website with a link to our Guild Forums which we stress the use of by all members. It’s the only sure way for the entire guild to communicate at all times with members that play in different time zones and have different play times as a result.
What are some benefits to being in your guild?
If your looking for a family to belong to, one that will do all it can to help you, be there for you when real life is bringing you down and you need to vent we are here for you. To me that’s a major benefit. We also provide crafted item to guild members at cost, and if funds are available will make a small donation to help our crafters get a start.
What single moment in your guilds time, have you found the most memorable?
That’s a tough one to answer. There are so many great times to recall that I can’t really pick a favorite. We are really blessed to have such great people.
What event has changed ‘you’ the most, since you have been in the guild?
I really don’t have an answer to this question, I have always been very kind to others and do all I can to help people I meet. I’ve always been this way so I don’t think I’ve changed much in the past 7-8 years.
Does your guild have or will your guild have planned gatherings, and if so, how often? (In game and/or Real Life)
We will hold weekly and monthly events once we learn more about what is possible in Horizons. We are a very active guild leadership and will have Officers who’s job it will be to not only think up events but to also help any member that wishes to plan an event plan the event they have in mind. We encourage all our members to plan events, in fact the more active the member the more they try to enhance the game for our members the better chance they have of becoming an officer when opening become available as the guild grows.
In a short paragraph, tell us why someone should join your guild.
Joining our guild is a two way street we are very picky about who we except into our family, but we also fell it’s our responsibility to provide an atmosphere that petitioners to our guild will want to join.
If someone is interested in joining your guild, what application process (if any) must they go through?
This is explained in full in our Guild Charter. Which all petitioners must read and agree to. It can be found on our website at www.dragonsblood.shorturl.com/horizons.
What games has your guild been a part of to date?
We began in Diablo, moved to Ultima Online then to Dark Age of Camelot and are still in DAoC at present.
What attracted you to Horizons and where to see your guild in the world when Horizons starts?
I have been following the game for about a year and a half. I like what is planned for Horizons and the level of control of the world that is being given to players.
Have you ever been a Leader of a Guild before? What MMO and what was the size of the Guild at peak?
I have been a gm of all three guild we have had beginning with Diablo. Peak membership in Diablo was 120ish members ( was learning how to GM there). Peak in Ultima Online was also over 100 members we held a spot in top 10 largest guilds on our server for 2 weeks running and had a sizable player run town built including a large castle at its center by the time many of us left that game for DAoC. In DAoC I decided smaller guild size was better easier to lead and less problematic. It allows for that family atmosphere we love. So I have been very picky about who we let in and have never exceeded 50 members.
Tell us a little about your gaming experience and role as ‘guild master’.
As I said earlier, I love to help others as a result I love being a GM of Dragon’s Blood. I have made some very close friends all over the USA in my years as a GM and have met several of those friends in the real world as well.
As a ‘guild master’, tell me what is the hardest set back you’ve had to deal with and how you handled the situation. (Which MMO was it and what was the out come?)
That would have to be while Gm of Dragon’s Blood in DAoC, friend of mine and his wife left our guild to start one of there own with friends of there’s that were leaving another server to join them. They had a guild together before joining Dragon’s Blood and wanted to start there old guild up again. When they left about a third of Dragon’s Blood decided to leave with them. We had no warning they were going to be doing this and the loss of that many people I really considered to be friends hurt a great deal. But I didn’t get upset with them I wished them well and continued to do what I did best (make friends) and the guild grew again rapidly. Unfortunately for those that left to start the new guild they found them selves with out a guild less than a month later. I did take those that wished to return to Dragon’s Blood back with not a word spoken of why they left.
What would you like your guild’s role in Horizons to be?
I will be better able to answer that question when we learn more about Horizons. Hopefully a lot more information about Horizons will be revealed soon.
Where you do see your guild a year into the game?
With our own town and many new Friends added to our ranks.
Any other details about your guild that you would like people to know?
Not that I can think of off hand. However anyone interested in joining
us is welcome to visit our website read our charter and email me with
any questions they may have about us. I will answer those questions gladly.
